MWMSSM
Next order of business was discussion of help for the MWMSSM

event and we needed help from members to work 2 hour shifts
for Pad Manager, LCO, and RSO. Item of note: Pad
managers are open to anyone 18 and up, LCOs must be Level 1
certified and RSOs must be Level 2 certified.

Budget
The budget for 1998 was presented at length by President Greg
Burke. He stated that we would be approximately $130 over
budget. This was due mainly to a 1-time cost of upgrading our
launch system. 16 additional pads (8 - 1/8", 4 -
3/16", 4 - 1/4") are slated to be built this year. Means
of helping reduce the deficit:
a) Produce as many copies "in house" as
possible;
Doyle and David Fountain are capable of this to
some degree,
b) Give newsletters out at launches and then
only
mail the remaining,
c) Be sure to collect the $2.00 flight fee for
non
members,
d) Possibility of holding "raffles"
at the launches,
e) Concession sales at the launches.
Richard Bock brought up items (d) and (e).
President Burke mentioned that we do hold concession sales
(drinks) during the summer months. Much discussion followed
on the raffle idea and Richard was appointed the Head Raffle
Officer (HRO). Doyle mentioned he would donate the first
rocket to be raffled. |

New LCO Policy
President Burke stated that we would be going to the "Pad
Manager" concept at all future launches.
The LCO would be stationed beyond the safety fence, and
access would only be granted after fully filling out
the flight card. This is to fully ensure safety at the LCO table. Also
stated, was that only certified motors will be permitted at
the SoAR launches. |

Flyer Distribution
President Burke stated we needed to place club flyers at all
stores that handle rocket supplies (with permission, of
course). It was also noted that we need to keep a list as to
what stores have the flyers (for updates). |

Dues
Discussion then proceeded to standardizing the dues renewal date for
all members. Several options were presented and discussed. The
final proposal that was voted upon is as follows:
The club will support a "2 step" pro-rated dues
structure;
a) Members joining between January and June
would pay the full $20 dues,
b) Members joining between July and December
would pay $10 in dues,
c) All members "next year’s" dues
would then be due by the February launch of the following
year.
